It's time to mark your calendar Texas Rangers fans, Elvis Andrus will being immortalized in franchise history forever this summer.

The organization announced on Wednesday that Andrus has been selected to be the 27th member of the Texas Rangers Baseball Hall of Fame with a pre-game induction ceremony planned for Saturday, June 28.

Andrus retired as a Ranger in September 2024 after 15 season in Major League Baseball, 12 seasons with Texas. The two-time All-Star played over 2,000 career games, batting .269/.325/.370 with a .695 OPS, 102 home runs and 775 runs driven in. His 1,996 games at shortstop in the third-most in MLB since 2000 behind Jimmy Rollins and Derek Jeter.

Andrus is most notably known to Rangers' fans for his contributions to the franchise's 2010 and 2011 American League pennants, his pure joy and love for the game, and his big brother-little brother relationship with teammate Adrian Beltre.

This season Andrus will appear on select pre-and-post game coverage and occasionally as a broadcaster for the organization's television network, Rangers Sports Network.

In honor of the announcement and incoming induction into the team's hall of fame here are some of his most memorable moments.

04/06/2009: Elvis Andrus' first career hit off Clelveland’s Cliff Lee

At 20 years old, Andrus registered career hit No. 1 of 2,091 on April 6, 2009 off then Cleveland Indians and future teammate Cliff Lee at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

An up-and-in fastball, he took it the opposite way down the right field line for a double. It was his first of 1,743 hits and 303 career doubles in a Texas uniform.

His career took off after that placing second in American League Rookie of the Year voting later that year and being selected as an All-Star in 2010 and 2012. In 2017, Andrus had perhaps the best season his career hitting .297 and setting a career high in home runs (20), runs batted in (88), runs scored (100) and OPS (.808) in 158 games.

10/20/2011: Defense on display with game-saving glove flip in game 2 of 2011 World Series against St. Louis

Andrus might be best known in the general public eye for his unfortunate errors in the 2015 ALDS against Toronto that ultimately cost the Rangers the series but he actually was a great fielder.

This play in the 2011 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals displays that. In the fifth inning of a scoreless game Rafael Furcal hit a hard ground ball up the middle of the infield. In one smooth motion Andrus dove for the ball, caught it, and while still on the ground flipped the ball out of his glove to Ian Kinsler to end the inning and keep the game tied.

A inning earlier the two infielders also connected for a sweet double play to end the inning scoreless as well. Texas went on to win that game 2-1, but ultimately lost that World Series in seven games.

04/20/16: Beltre teases Andrus for not running hard out of box in 6th inning against Astros

Every Texas Rangers fan knows the relationship that Andrus and fellow infielder Beltre had day in and day out playing baseball together for eight seasons in Arlington.

Whether it was one of them distracting the other on the field why they were trying to make a play or Andrus touching Beltre's head, which we all know is a big no-no, the duo was a pleasure to watch on the field.

This time it was Beltre teasing the youngster about not running hard on a deep fly ball in the sixth inning of a game against the Astros. Andrus turned around on a fastball that hit the top of the left field wall and he ended up admiring it and only got a double out of it.

Upon scoring later that inning the cameras flipped to Beltre in the dugout staring at him with arms crossed jokingly getting on Andrus for not running hard out of the box.

06/21/21: Andrus returns to Texas for first time since being traded

Andrus was traded to the Athletics prior to the 2021 season, ending a magnificent 12-yeah journey with the Rangers. In return, Texas received Khris Davis, as well as an instrumental member of the team’s 2023 title, catcher Jonah Heim.

When he returned to Globe Life Park in June of that year with the A’s, he was welcomed back home with a nearly minute-long standing ovation ahead of his first at-bat of the game in the top of the second inning. A true testament to the legacy he left with the franchise.

04/05/23: Andrus records career hit No. 2,000 off Giants’ Logan Webb

As a member of the Chicago White Sox, Andrus hit career hit No. 2,000 in the bottom of the fifth inning against San Francisco Giants’ righty Logan Webb in Chicago. The one-out single just snuck underneath the second baseman’s glove and rolled into right field.

After the game Andrus said it meant a lot to him, his family and all who helped him in his career. He told reporters that the ball will go to his mom, who has all his milestone baseballs.

09/06/24: No. 1 officially retires from baseball as a member of the Texas Rangers

After last playing in 2023 with the White Sox, Andrus made his retirement official in before the end of the 2024 season. And to much of the delight of the Rangers organization and fan base, Andrus signed a 1-day contract to officially retire as a member of the Rangers.

He ranks first all-time in franchise history in stolen bases, second in games played, at-bats and triples, third in runs scored and hits, and fifth all-time in doubles.
