How to watch Texas Rangers Spring Training games

Spring Training games kick off on Friday, February 24th for the Texas Rangers. Before the games get underway, I always look at the schedule to see which games will be broadcast on TV. There are two different lists where this is concerned. There are games streamed online with an MLB.tv subscription and then a smaller list of games Bally Sports Southwest will carry and will be available to watch on TV. This season will see 14 Rangers Spring Training games carried on MLB.tv and nine games carried on Bally Sports Southwest.

If you do not already have an MLB.tv subscription I would recommend signing up before Spring Training games get underway. It is $149.99 for the entire season or $24.99 per month. MLB.tv airs multiple Spring Training games per day and does not place blackout restrictions on any of the games. If you live in Texas or Oklahoma, Texas Rangers games are available to watch live through the service rather than on a delay. MLB.tv makes available any game that is broadcast. Many of these games will be streamed with the opponent's broadcast. It makes for an interesting watch to see how other broadcasters call games and to hear what they think of the Rangers team. My favorite broadcasts to watch are when the Rangers play the Dodgers or Cubs. Dodgers with Orel Hershisher on the call will oftentimes tell stories of his time in Texas when he was the pitching coach. He will be able to break down what he sees from the Rangers pitchers in real-time. It is interesting to hear his opinion. I also will watch the Cubs now as former ESPN broadcaster Jon "Boog" Sciambi is on the call. He is an entertaining and informative broadcaster as well. Here is the list of games that will be featured on MLB.tv this Spring Training.

There are also games that will be broadcast on Bally Sports Southwest if you have that channel. Not all of these games will have Dave Raymond and CJ Nitkowski in the booth. If another Bally Sports regional network is broadcasting the game Bally Sports Southwest will simulcast it. So keep that in mind if you are planning to watch these games and know that if it is a road game there is a good chance it will be with the home team's announcers. Here are the games that will be broadcast on Bally Sports Southwest.

The Rangers radio call will also be on 105.3 The Fan locally as well as some games that will be exclusively available on MLB.com. It will feature mostly Matt Hicks and Jared Sandler on the call with Eric Nadel broadcasting games closer to the start of the season. 105.3 The Fan will be airing games on Saturdays and Sundays during Spring Training and also two Thursday night games on March 16th and 23rd. MLB.com will pick up the games mainly Monday-Wed and two Friday night games on March 17th and March 24th. The only two games with no local call appear to be February 24th and March 10th.

There will be plenty of opportunity these next five weeks to watch the Texas Rangers and see Corey Seager, Marcus Seminen, and Josh Jung. Keep this article handy so that you know on any particular day how to go about watching or listening to the Texas Rangers. this Spring Training season.
