Hernandez is also a veteran who is approaching free agency. He has played for several winning teams in his time playing for the Dodgers and now the Red Sox. The Red Sox find themseves currently last place in the AL East. They could try for one of the wild cards or look to rebuild at the deadline. Hernandez who can play both infield and outfield would be a valuable piece for any organization. The main issue with Hernandez though is that he has not been good since that playoff run in 2021. He struggled with injuries last season and played in less than 100 games. This season he has gotten off to a slow start, but is healthy. The trade cost though will be the lowest of these three players. If he can get hot in October he can carry the Rangers much like he carried the Red Sox to the brink of the World Series in 2021.

There is a lot of time between April 25th and the trade deadline on August 1st. Teams will fall out of the race and teams will have a hot streak and look to capitalize. There will be other players made available between now and July that we do not know are available.I think if the Rangers are in contention come July that they will look first for bullpen help and then look for and outfielder. The one thing we do know for sure now is that Bryan Reynolds will not be that player the Rangers acquire at the trade deadline.
