It's Opening Day, Rangers fans. Your favorite team is back in the saddle for 2024 and looking to do something no team has accomplished since 2000; win back-to-back World Series championships. The Rangers won their first-ever World Series title last season and are looking to run it back this year.

The Rangers will have the core of last year's championship team returning this season, but a number of stars will be starting the season on the injured list. Max Scherzer, Jacob deGrom, Tyler Mahle, and Nathaniel Lowe will all be out of action at the outset of 2024.

But the Rangers received some good news ahead of Opening Day involving two of the team's biggest stars. Both Corey Seager and Josh Jung are expected to be on the field Thursday when the Chicago Cubs come to Globe Life Field.

Rangers News: Corey Seager & Josh Jung get green light

Both Seager and Jung were question marks heading into the season. Seager (sports hernia surgery) and Jung (calf strain) were absent throughout most of spring training, but began ramping up their rehab over the past couple of weeks.

Seager and Jung's presence on the field is crucial to the Rangers success in 2024, especially with Lowe on the shelf for the first month of the season. Seager finished second in the AL MVP race last season and took home World Series MVP honors. Jung was an All-Star during his rookie campaign and mashed 23 round-trippers for Texas in 2023. Both infielders will be looking for a repeat of last year's success.

Rangers News: Jared Walsh makes the team

Lowe's injury raised questions about who would play first base for the Rangers in 2024. Those questions were answered with the selection of Jared Walsh to the active roster. Until signing a non-roster deal with the Rangers this offseason, Walsh's career had been spent in the AL West as a member of the Los Angeles Angels.

In addition to Walsh, the Rangers also selected the contract of Jose Ureña. It's been reported that Jose Barrero cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Round Rock to begin the 2024 season. Newly signed pitcher Michael Lorenzen was added to the injured list, but that's due to his lack of reps this spring.

Rangers News: New sponsorship patch added to uniform

In addition to the gold-trimmed championship uniforms the Rangers will wear in 2024, the team also has new sponsorship patch sewn onto the sleeve. A royal blue patch on the sleeve of the Rangers' jersey will be sponsored by Energy Transfer. This is the Rangers' first sponsor to feature an advertisement on the team's uniform.
