Rangers vs. Twins prediction and odds for Thursday, Aug. 24 (Target total)

The Twins have its ace on the mound, but also a poor matchup at the plate. Here's how to target the over/under.

The Texas Rangers are in a heated race for the AL West and every game counts, can Andrew Heaney show up for Texas against one of the hottest pitchers in baseball in Pablo Lopez?

Heaney has put up decent numbers for the Rangers and has a favorable matchup against a Minnesota Twins team that has struggled against left handed pitching. Can Heaney match Lopez's fine pitching and keep the Rangers in the AL West race?

Rangers vs. Twins prediction and pick

The Twins are 26th in OPS against left handed pitching this season, giving Heaney plenty of opportunity to show out against the first place team in the AL Central.

However, Lopez is in as good of form as any pitcher in baseball, pitching three straight shutout starts, going at least six innings in every game. While the Rangers have a vaunted offense that is top five in the likes of OPS, wRC+ and slugging percentage, Lopez has been on a tear of late and should continue to pitch well given that his 3.51 ERA is far below expectation. He has an xERA of 3.09 this season.

Both pitchers should roll on Thursday, I'm going to eye the under as my favorite bet on the board for this matchup.
