The Rangers and their wasted opportunity

This was a huge series for the Astros, just as it was when the Angels took three of four from Texas in June. In both cases the Rangers had chances to put some distance between themselves and the teams competing with them. Instead the Angels narrowed the gap to Texas and the Astros did the same.

The Rangers had a shot to win three if not all four games. They had a lead in the sixth inning on Friday, a lead in the eighth inning on Sunday, and a lead in the ninth inning on Monday. The team will move on and continue to play, but if they do lose the lead at some point they will look back at this weekend as the turning point.

The team now heads to Boston and Washington to finish up the pre-All Star break games. The character of this team and their resilience is certainly being put to the test. If this team is truly a playoff team and one that is capable of unseating the Astros as AL West champions they will go on the road and find a way to win both of these series and go into the break on a high note.
