The 2025 Texas Rangers have had their fair share of disappointing performances and outcomes to start the year but some stand out more than others.

In the first 33 games of the year, the Rangers have one of the worst offenses in baseball, ranking bottom five in average, on-base percentage, OPS, walks drawn, RBI's and runs scored in all of baseball.

These two veteran stars for the Rangers are among the disappointment's as MLB executives from around the league agree that they have not been themselves to start the year.

2 Rangers players that MLB executives think are among biggest disappointments in 2025

Joc Pederson

Well, can't argue with this consensus. Joc Pederson is among of the worst hitters in the league to start the season and if he had enough plate appearances to qualify, he'd likely be the worst in many categories.

With a batting average below .100, which was as worse as .059 at one point, the DH found himself in the middle of an 0-for-41 slump in April. When he snapped out of the slump, he did starts collecting a few hits and seeing the ball better but that doesn't matter because it still hasn't clicked yet.

One NL executive told MLB.com, "Pederson has been totally lost at the plate as a bat-only players just starting a large two year contract. He'll be better than this, but very disappointing so far."

As you can see the mark of consistency and trust seems to give Pederson some benefit of the doubt. He's been a great player throughout his career and his 2024 season with Arizona was one of his best. They may seem to think that Pederson will turn the corner but so far, he's just a guaranteed out.

Marcus Semien

One of the modern day Iron Mans of baseball, Marcus Semien is another player that is shocking (in a bad way) MLB executives and people from around the league with his start to 2025.

Historically, Semien has been a slow starter. Espeically ever since he joined the Rangers in 2022. In the month of April throughout his career, he's played in 261 games slashing .236/.309/.390 and a .699 OPS. Even in just the month of May, Semien's average goes up nearly 30 points and his OPS rises to .700.

We are only through 4 games in May so time will tell if he can turn it around. That still doesn't take away the fact that Semien has been abysmal. He lost his leadoff spot and is currently regularly hitting fifth in the lineup over the last couple of weeks.

Disappointment and Semien are still weird connectors. He's been an Iron Man and a true mark of consistency really once he broke out with the Athletics. Semien will also be the first person to share the sentiment that he's upset with himself. It has to turn around for Semien. It just has to, right?
