Rangers fans can officially rest assured that Corey Seager has returned to form

For most of the summer, it looked like 2026 would be a lost season for Texas Rangers All-Star shortstop Corey Seager. He suffered through three injuries and missed most of the first half. When he did play, he struggled, putting up substandard numbers that we're not used to seeing from the 2-time World Series MVP.

Over the last six weeks, the slugger has flipped the script on his campaign and resumed being the anchor in the No. 2 slot in Skip Schumaker's batting order. It is finally safe to say that Seager is back at 100%, and he will be crucial if the Rangers are going to overcome the Astros and win the AL West down the stretch.

Corey Seager has returned to form, and it couldn't have come at a better time for the Rangers

Since July 31, Seager is slashing .294/.366/.503 with eight homers over 183 plate appearances. That's good for an OPS of .869. The Rangers finally have their big-money thumper back, and it is pivotal that he continues hitting well as the team fights every night for either the West pennant or the final wild-card spot.

It has also come while Joc Pederson has been dealing with a broken bone in his hand from a hit-by-pitch over a week ago. He is supplying the power from the left side of the plate as Brandon Nimmo has gone cold, striking out an alarming number of times over the last week.

With the team needing Seager to stay healthy now and potentially for a postseason run, Schumaker can give him some DH off days with Pederson out. The combination of Ezequiel Duran, Nicky Lopez, and Justin Foscue is more than enough to cover shortstop and keep Seager's legs fresh moving forward.

Additionally, Seager's return to form is a positive if the Rangers miss out on the postseason and decide to test the market to see what they could get in a trade. Before getting hot in August and September, his value was in the tank. He was hitting .182/.292/.374, and there was a lot of noise about trading Seager at the deadline. Now he is at a more Seager-like 3.2 bWAR with 18 homers and 47 RBI.

This team generally follows the potential future Hall of Famer's lead, and he has stepped up for Chris Young and the organization in a big way over the last month and a half. Hopefully, he will lead the team into a playoff spot with just a week left in the regular season.
