It hasn't been the kindest start to the season for the Texas Rangers and now the once beloved front office is coming under fire by the fans as the team enters the third year of promises not being kept and the same flat offensive production year after year.
Making matters worse, the changes made over the last few seasons, including trades and letting players walk away with zero to limited return have begun to reared its ugly head this season.
Fans upset at Chris Young's lack of success
A former professional pitcher, Chris Young arrived in Arlington as the team's general manager in 2020, serving under the long-time Rangers' front office executive Jon Daniels. As a duo, Young and Daniels brought ushered in a new wave of talent to Texas, including Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, Nathan Eovaldi and draftees Josh Jung and Evan Carter.
Once Daniels was let go by Texas in 2022, Young took over as the team's president of baseball operations and in 2023, the Rangers finally got over the hump and won the franchise's first World Series title.
While the physical games were played solely under the leadership of Young, it was mostly a Daniels built roster. Ever since it's been Young as the big name in charge, it's been less impressive moves.
Over the last few seasons, Young has parted ways with several fan favorites including Nathaniel Lowe and Adolis Garcia, as well as, young talent with potential to be contributors in the future.
Garcia, now in Philadelphia is not lighting up the stat sheet but he is hitting .246, his best average since 2023, along with four home runs and 13 RBIs. Meanwhile, Lowe is batting .270 with six home runs and 18 runs driven in as a member of the Reds.

Another area where Young is catching flack is trades that gave up a lot for little in return. Back in 2024, with the team loosely holding on to a postseason spot at the trade deadline, Young dealt Liam Hicks to Detroit for 30 games from Carson Kelly.
Fast forward to this season, Hicks, a 26-year-old catcher is in Miami now batting .319 with nine home runs and leads all of Major League Baseball with 34 RBIs. Meanwhile, the Rangers catchers (Higashioka and Jansen) are batting a combined .203 with three home runs and 12 RBIs.
Let's not even begin to talk about this offseason's trade for MacKenzie Gore, which seemed like Texas got a good deal after his first couple starts of the season but has since turned sour. Young traded FIVE prospects for Gore, including the team's 2025 first round pick and second overall prospect Gavin Fien to Washington.
