Every organization has a player that to the surprise of the entire fanbase still has a spot on the roster year after year.

Throughout the course of the Texas Rangers history, they've had plenty of those types of players but none have caused more wonder than the past few seasons of infielder Ezequiel Duran. His most recent astounding record in the history books, only adds to it.

Now, 204 plate appearances into his season, Duran is the first Rangers to not record a single home run in that timeframe since Elvis Andrus set that mark in 2010.

Duran's homer-less streak far more embarrassing than Andrus in 2010

Back in 2010, Andrus played in 148 games and in that time recorded 674 plate appearances. Throughout that time, he did not hit a single home run. Regardless, he still finished that year hitting .265 and recording the fourth-most hits on the team with 158 and making his first All-Star team as a 21-year-old.

Duran has only played in 86 games this season and went yet another game without a longball on Wednesday evening. Sounds less crazy when you see that Andrus made over 470 more plate appearances but it's about what else Duran failed to do.

The 26-year-old Duran, in his fourth big league season, is hitting over 30 points lower than Andrus's 2010 season. He also has only recorded 43 hits and driven in less than half the runs Elvis did 15 years ago.

To make matters worse, Duran has only three home runs over his last 489 plate appearances dating back to the start of last year.

Duran possesses the talent but fans are tired of the failure

Rangers' fans have seen Duran's power on full display over the last few seasons.

In 2023, when Corey Seager went down a handful of times Duran stepped up and had a monster first-half of the season, mashing 12 homers in just 70 games prior the All-Star Break. Even this season, he's had flashes of brilliance, with a dominant August during the Rangers' attempt to get back into playoff contention.

His 2023 season then built a lot of excitement for the young man. They were hoping Duran would replicate that success moving forward and become a jack-of-all-trades defender with speed and 15 homer bat. Instead, Josh Smith broke through in 2024 and became that role for Texas.

Somehow, Duran has still managed to stick around the big league roster to the surprise of many fans that just don't see how that's the case. He's become a non-value player and fans are tired of the lack of success and positive production, that he's oversta
