The final month of the regular season has arrived. The Rangers entered September in the thick of the postseason race, trailing the Cleveland Guardians by 1 1/2 games for the final AL Wild Card spot and the Houston Astros by one game for first place in the AL West with a 69-70 record.

With plenty of exciting Rangers baseball on the horizon, let's dive into the latest news surrounding the club.

Cal Quantrill named Rangers Player of the Month

Media members and broadcasters who regularly cover the Rangers voted right-hander Cal Quantrill as Texas' Player of the Month for August, the team announced.

Quantrill stepped up in a big way for a rotation decimated by injuries. The right-hander posted a strong 1.45 ERA with a 0.84 WHIP and 29 strikeouts over 31 innings last month. He made five starts and one relief appearance for the Rangers in August. He recorded at least five innings in each of his five starts last month and logged six or more innings in four of them.

Rangers recall Cam Cauley as rosters expand to 28 men

The Rangers recalled utilityman Cam Cauley and added recently signed right-hander Trevor Williams to the active roster on Tuesday as rosters expanded from 26 to 28 men. Read more about Williams here: What the Rangers are getting in recently signed veteran RHP Trevor Williams.

Cauley, 23, has slashed .207/.281/.345 with one homer, three doubles, a triple and an RBI over 65 plate appearances with Texas this season. He has recorded innings at second base, shortstop, center field and right field during his short time in the majors. After being optioned to Triple-A Round Rock in mid August. Cauley hit an outstanding .339/.397/.732 with six home runs, four doubles, 14 RBI and six stolen bases over 13 games with the Express.

Robert Garcia, Carter Baumler beginning rehab assignment

Left-hander Robert Garcia and right-hander Carter Baumler will begin rehab assignments with Triple-A Round Rock this week, according to the Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant.

Garcia has been on the injured list since late April due to left shoulder inflammation. He recorded a 3.38 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP and six strikeouts over eight innings out of the bullpen this season before landing on the IL.

The Pittsburgh Pirates selected Baumler in the 2025 Rule 5 Draft from the Baltimore Orioles, then immediately traded him to the Rangers. He has been on the IL since early April due to a right intercostal strain. The right-hander has posted a 3.18 ERA with a 1.76 WHIP and six strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings out of the bullpen this season.
