It is a few weeks into the Texas Rangers offseason and plenty of news have surfaced. Everything from the hiring or a new manager, coaching departures, offseason trade rumors and more.
While there is still a few extra weeks until players officially hit free agency and the real madness begins. There still have been a handful of eventful news to break in that time.
Eovaldi undergoes sports hernia surgery
Rangers' 35-year-old underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair a sports hernia, according to Jeff Wilson of DLLS Sports.
Eovaldi's 2025 season ended in August with a strained right rotator cuff after starting 22 games and recording a 1.73 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, 129 strikeouts and 21 walks in 130 innings of work. He is expected to be fully recovered from both injuries prior to spring training.
Corey and Mady Seager welcome first kid to family
Welcome Camden to the world!
The Rangers' shortstop and his wife Mady became parents on October 4 with the birth of their first child, Camden Miles Seager. The 31-year-old and his wife have been married since 2020 after they met and started dating in high school.

Offseason rumors link Rangers to several trades, free agents
Rumors are the best part of Major League Baseball offseason and the Rangers are being circulated around the league for some top talent.
Just this week, they have been listed as a "dark horse candidate" to land soon-to-be free agent southpaw Framber Valdez, continue to be connected to Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman and hope to be among the top contenders for the Polar Bear.
Other than that, Texas still needs to rebuild their bullpen from the ground up, with only four arms contracted for the 2026 season. While plenty of internal options exist, there is no shortage of good relief arms hitting the market this winter.
Former Miami reliever reunites with Skip Schumaker in Texas
Texas made their first move of the offseason signing 28-year-old Declan Cronin to a two-year minor league deal.
Cronin, a righty reliever, was drafted in the 36th round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Holy Cross. Starting his career with the White Sox, he was traded to Miami in 2024, where he spent one season under new Rangers' manager Schumaker.
He did however, recently undergo Tommy John Surgery and is expected to miss the entirety of the 2026 season.
Bobby Wilson departs Rangers after six seasons
The longtime catching coach for the Rangers announced his departure from the team earlier this week.
Wilson, an 11-year MLB veteran, spent two seperate playing stints with the Rangers in 2015 and 2016, and hit .250 with two grand slams in just three months. He first joined the organization in 2020 as the manager of their Double-A affiliate Frisco Roughriders then became the big league team's catching coordinator in October 2020.
