Justin Foscue left Rangers' Monday spring training game with right hamstring tightness
First baseman/second baseman Justin Foscue, who has gone 4-for-7 at the plate this spring, left yesterday's spring training matchup between the Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Angels with right hamstring tightness, according to multiple reports. Luckily, the injury doesn't seem too serious, according to MLB.com's Kennedi Landry.
Skip on Foscue: "He said he wanted to play...I get it. He's trying to make a roster. I understand it. He's having a really good camp. But let's not turn this thing into a 4-5 week deal. It'll be a couple days. Maybe even tomorrow if he feels better, but let's just see" https://t.co/rQqCEy56JF

Let's hope Foscue returns soon. With Cody Freeman slated to miss four to six weeks due to a stress fracture in his lower back, Texas needs Foscue to be Josh Smith's backup at second base. Cameron Cauley could claim that role if Foscue misses significant time, but it seems Foscue will return soon. Foscue has also started at first base twice already this spring, suggesting he could take some of Jake Burger's playing time if he continues to perform well.
Rangers sign exciting young international pitching prospect
Texas has agreed to a contract with Dominican left-handed pitcher Breyner Figuereo for around $100,000, according to Beisbol FR's Francys Romero. The deal is pending a physical.
Figuereo, 17, has reached 97 mph on his fastball. The Chicago Cubs signed the lefty as an outfielder last year, but released him after he slashed just .192/.287/.272 in 143 plate appearances across 40 games in the Dominican Summer League.
Figuereo's brother, Gleider Figuereo, is also in the Rangers organization. Gleider, a third baseman, spent the 2025 season with High-A Hub City. The brothers' father, Victor Figuereo, also had played in the Rangers organization, reaching Low-A in 2004.
Jack Leiter shows off new cutter as Rangers beat Angels 6-0
Leiter is doing everything he can to take his game to the next level. The righty added a cutter to his pitch mix, according to The Dallas Morning News' Shawn McFarland.

Leiter's solid two-inning start yesterday helped the Rangers defeat the Angels 6-0. Catcher Danny Jansen hit the Rangers' first 2026 spring-training homer off Reid Detmers to put Texas up 2-0 in the first inning, and infielder Tyler Wade followed by hitting an RBI single. In the fourth inning, Sam Haggerty hit a two-RBI single, followed by Ezequiel Duran driving in a run on a hit-by-pitch.
