The Rangers got the cold shoulder from the Major League All-Star voting, with only closer Jacob Latz getting a nod for the Midsummer Classic. Still, there will be other members of the organization in Philadelphia for All-Star weekend on July 11-14.
Fast-rising minor league pitcher Caden Scarborough has been invited to be a part of the All-Star Futures game that will take place at 11 AM CDT on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Citizens Bank Park. It is a massive achievement for the young hurler, and hopefully the first of many more.
Caden Scarborough will be part of the All-Star Futures game as the number 2 prospect in the Rangers prospect pipeline
There aren't a lot of bright spots in the Rangers' pipeline right now, with Sebastian Walcott rehabbing a torn UCL and many of the top prospects already in Arlington to buttress a roster ravaged by injuries. Scarborough is the exception.
The hard-throwing righty just turned 21 in April and is currently pitching well at High-A Hub City. Over 2 years younger than the average player in High-A ball, he has a 3.42 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP. But what's most impressive about the young flamethrower is his 27 Ks in 23 innings pitched.
I’m telling you, you want to get hot in the bus leagues, come on the show with @JeffWilsonTXR and myself. https://t.co/Ks96STDvvB https://t.co/zDsKl9Kz3v

Since arriving in the Rangers system out of Harmony High School in Florida in 2024, he has added 5-7 mph on his rising fastball, taking it from a below-average heater to a strikeout pitch that registers anywhere from 94-96.
He has also developed a much better, tighter slider that bites toward the back foot of left-handed hitters and breaks away at the shins of right-handers. His stuff reminds some of a Jacob deGrom starter kit that has the potential to get even better as he adds natural muscle to his lanky 6-foot-5-inch, 185-pound frame. He is already a physically intimidating presence on the mound, but will become even more frightening to opposing hitters when he adds some good weight.
It was unfortunate that neither Josh Jung nor Ezequiel Duran got tabbed for the festivities, but the Rangers will be well-represented by Latz and now Scarborough, who has worked hard to add that velocity and bite to his arsenal of off-speed pitches.
The 2026 All-Star Futures Game will be broadcast live on NBC and streamed on Peacock, so tune in and check out one of the club's top talents taking on the best farmhands from across MLB.
