The Texas Rangers head home to Arlington after an even 3-3 road trip, yet they must feel good after taking two of three from the Detroit Tigers high-powered offense this weekend.
They experienced a road block on Friday evening facing reigning AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal, striking out 12 times and losing the series opener 2-1. From then, they outscored Detroit 16-4 in the final two games of the series.
Homering 8 times on Saturday and Sunday, including Joc Pederson and Evan Carter's first of the year, the Rangers' offense is starting to look more like the offense fans were used to seeing two years ago during their World Series run.

On top of that, Jacob deGrom and Nathan Eovaldi pitched absolute gems, combining for 12 innings, 7 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks and 17 strikeouts. With those performances the Rangers now hold the 6th best team ERA in Major League Baseball.
It's now been a week since the Rangers dismissed offensive coordinator Donnie Ecker and hired 14 year MLB veteran Bret Boone to replace him. I still think it's too early into Boone's tenure to say for certain that he's impacted this offense but this week the offensive game plan and approach has been 10x better.
We've been here before though this season where the team has made significant changes, they click for a game or two, then revert back to old habits. So, this week it will be important to keep an eye on.
The good news, they have a few games to add to that much needed confidence as they open the homestand against the 7-33 Colorado Rockies fresh off the firing of their manager Bud Black. They will then welcome the Astros to Arlington for four, which presents a change to make up some ground in the AL West.
But there's no doubt that the offense, defense and pitching seem to be vibing for the first time this year, which is worth a shoutout.
