INF Sebastian Walcott to undergo shoulder surgery
Walcott, the Rangers' No. 1 prospect, will undergo shoulder surgery due to a torn UCL, according to The Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant. He is expected to miss all or most of the 2026 season. It's a brutal blow for the Rangers, as the young prospect likely would've been ready to make his MLB debut later in the season if Texas needed an offensive boost.
Lefty pitcher Cody Bradford still on track to return in May
Bradford remains on track for a May return after undergoing an internal brace procedure last spring that caused him to miss the entire 2025 season. He had a bullpen session a few days ago and will likely begin the season in the minors before returning to the big leagues in May. It's unknown whether he'll slot into the Rangers' bullpen or rotation upon returning. It'll likely depend on the health of the starting pitchers.
Rangers may be potential fit for released Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos
The New York Post's Jon Heyman brought up the Rangers as a potential fit for Castellanos, who reportedly brought beer into the Phillies' dugout after being taken out of a game and complained to manager Rob Thomson about the team rules last season. Despite the controversy surrounding his name, he may be a good fit for Texas. The Rangers could sign him at a league-minimum salary, and he'd be a nice right-handed bat to balance out a left-handed-heavy lineup.
WBC News could leave Rangers without Wyatt Langford for portion of Spring Training
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll suffered a broken hamate bone during live batting practice on Wednesday. Before his injury, Carroll was slated to start for Team USA during this year's World Baseball Classic. Now, Team USA is seeking to add an outfielder to replace the injured Diamondback, and is considering Texas Rangers star outfielder Wyatt Langford to fill the role, per MLB Network's Jon Morosi. The other outfielders being considered to replace Carroll are Steven Kwan, Riley Greene, James Wood, Roman Anthony, Tyler Soderstrom and Kyle Stowers. Langford is arguably the best of that group, so there is a strong chance he'll be representing his country this spring instead of being with the Rangers for the entirety of Spring Training.
