As we thought it couldn't get worse for the Texas Rangers lately, we took a look at the current state of the Rangers' top prospects and immediately had a good cry.

As of Tuesday, five of the Rangers top six prospects are on the injured list. The only player not hurt is the team's No. 1 prospect, 19-year-old Sebastian Walcott.

Five of Rangers top six prospects currently sidelined with injuries

Alejandro Rosario

Rosario, 23, was the first to go down with an injury after suffering an elbow injury while preparing for the upcoming season in February.

At the time, the 5th-round draft pick in the 2023 MLB Draft was a big project after having a less thsan stellar college career at Miami. But the Rangers put in the effort and helped revamp his pitch mechanics and pitch mix and it paid off.

Last year, Rosario posted a 2.24 ERA with 129 strikeouts, only 13 walks all while holding opponents to a .207 batting average in 18 games (17 starts) with High-A Hickory. He was named the Rangers minor league pitcher of the year and entered 2025 as the organization's sixth-best prospect.

Malcolm Moore

Moore was the team's first round pick in 2024 after finishing his junior year at Stanford.

The 21-year-old catcher was placed on the IL on April 17 with a broken finger after being hit by a foul ball while catching. There's no timetable for his return but it is likely to be an extended absence due to the nature of the injury and his position.

Moore was off to a strong start in High-A Hub City slashing .267/.463/.467 with a homer, three RBI and six runs scored through nine games. The Rangers are extremely high on the former collegiate catcher, drafting him 30th overall last summer.

April 24, 2025: Kumar Rocker

Yes, Rocker is still a prospect. Matter of a fact, he's the team's No. 2 overall prospect behind Walcott.

He started the season on the Opening Day roster for the Rangers and was placed on the injured list with a right shoulder impingement after giving up five earned runs over 1 1/3 innings against the Athletics on April 23.

The third overall pick in 2023 is 1-3 with a 8.10 ERA, 1.75 WHIP, 16 strikeouts, 5 walks and a .345 opponent batting average on 20 innings of work. Truth be told, this isn't the worst thing that could happen. Sure, you don't want him to be injured but Rocker wasn't himself to start the year.

April 25, 2025: Winston Santos and Emiliano Teodo

The two right-handers got hurt roughly at the same time. While Texas hopes Teodo's injury doesn't cause him to miss a lot of time, Santos is likely down for an extended period of time.

Santos is the Rangers No. 6 overall prospect is dealing with a stress reaction in his back which will sideline him for at least 8-10 weeks. He had a strong 2024, leading the Rangers' farm system with 11 wins (11) and strikeouts (138).

Teodo, Texas' No. 5 prospect, is dealing with right shoulder fatigue, and was initially shut down for 7-10 days. The 24-year-old was on many Rangers' fans wish list to make the team's Opening Day roster after turning heads, with five scoreless outings this spring in Surprise.

Both Santos and Teodo pitched in last year's Futures Game in Arlington, a game in which Teodo started and threw two perfect innings. Santos on the other hand threw three perfect innings during the Rangers' Spring Breakout game in March to start the game.
