The Texas Rangers are back to .500 after a dominant weekend series against Cleveland and look to carry that positive momentum into the final week of August against two divisional opponents.
Sitting at 66-66, the Rangers still remain on the outside looking in of the American League playoff picture, 4.5 games back of Seattle for the final wild card spot. Now that the details have been discussed, let's talk about the massive inconsistency that is the 2025 Texas Rangers.
Rangers' 2025 inconsistencies confusing fans about what to expect
After a 2-5 road trip last week, the Rangers seemed all but out of the playoff conversation having not only been beaten down emotionally and physically by the Toronto Blue Jays and Kansas City Royals.
Entering the Guardians' series on Friday, they were 3-7 in their last 10 games. Just weeks before that they were five games over .500 and currently tied with the AL Wild Card spot with Seattle.
During the road trip, they were outscored 42-32, looked just drained emotionally and returned to Arlington with Evan Carter and Marcus Semien sidelined for the remainder of the season. It seemed as good a time to call it a season and coast for the final stretch.
Instead, the Rangers' pitchers decided to throw three games, allowing only three runs and striking out 33 Cleveland hitters. Thankfully the offense stepped up as well, outscoring Cleveland 19-3 en route to a sweep.

The natural reaction for any other MLB team would be to recognize the sweep as a possible turning point. Every team goes through hot and cold stretches throughout a season but Rangers' fans are guarded in that reaction.
It has been 132 games (so far) of complete letdowns. Even when fans think the turnaround is near. They go 2-5 on a roadtrip and dig themselves further into a hole.
Let's just agree that for the remainder of the regular season, we watch with zero expecations. That way, win or lose, we aren't getting more or less than what we bargained for. As for the team, just continue to play hard and show some fight. That's all the fanbase is asking for at this stage of the season.
