As the Texas Rangers head into the All-Star break still trying to figure out if they're buyers or sellers, it's officially time for POBO Chris Young to turn his attention to the MLB Draft on Sunday night. When he does so, the latest Mock Draft from MLB Pipeline believes a familiar name, Daniel Pierce, will be the pick.

The Rangers have long been thought to be looking at a shortstop in the first round of Sunday's MLB Draft. However, depending on the mock, just who that shortstop will be is up for debate.

However, Jim Callis and Jonathan Mayo have been consistent in stating that Pierce will be the guy. Sunday morning's latest mock once again thinks the Texas Rangers will select the Georgia prep shortstop.

Texas Rangers draft target: Daniel Pierce emerges as top option at No. 12

"This continues to be a high school bat spot with Pierce getting the edge over (Steele) Hall, (Kayson) Cunningham, or (Gavin) Fien," Mayo wrote.

Callis agrees that Pierce is where the Rangers would love to go, always depending on him actually being there when Texas makes its pick at No. 12 in the first round.

While several high school shortstops would fit, Pierce is the one most Rangers fans should be hoping for. The hype around the Georgia prospect continues to grow, with some analysts wondering if he might be the next Bobby Witt Jr. That's undoubtedly an impressive comp.

When talking about high school picks, there's always the chance they never pan out. There's more growing to be done than more polished college players. But when talking about Daniel Pierce, it's clear most analysts believe he's got enough talent that he'd be a fantastic pick for the Texas Rangers as they look to the future in the Major League Baseball Draft on Sunday night.
