With just a few games left before the All-Star Break, one Texas Rangers beat writer seems convinced that the organization will not be sellers and will commit to giving a playoff run a go for the rest of this season.
Evan Grant spilled his thoughts on X, and seems confident that while the team may not sell any of their big ticket players, they should be preparing for the future while also hopefully staying in the race for a wild card spot this year.
The Rangers' beat reporter thinks the team will stand pat
There are still more than two weeks left before the July 31 Trade Deadline, but Grant, the Ranger beat reporter and insider, took to X (formerly Twitter) and sounded off on what he believes the President of Baseball Operations Chris Young and the Rangers front office will do -- or perhaps will not do ahead of the deadline.
I don't see them trading any of big 3 and not sure there is much value to be had for others. I lean towards letting things play out and seeing if there is a run in them, even if the numbers suggest it's unlikely. But I'd spend 2nd half making plans for how to address future. https://t.co/WpHKWKORMh

Ina somewhat vague and cryptic tweet, Grant refers to a "big 3" that likely refers to their three starting pitchers Jacob deGrom, Nathan Eovaldi, and Tyler Mahle saying that he doesn't foresee any of them being dealt.
He also believes that there isn't much value in their other starters, which would include Jack Leiter, Kumar Rocker, Patrick Corbin, and Jon Gray, who is looking to return soon from a lengthy stay on the IL with a broken throwing arm.
Evan Grant believes the second have should have two purposes
While he indicates that he thinks that the Rangers making the playoffs is statistically, "unlikely" the Rangers bats have come to life over the last five weeks and as they finish up a series with the Houston Astros before the break.
It seems as though he is of the mind that of the Rangers happen to buck the odds and make a run this season, then that's well and good, but their main focus should be on putting themselves in good shape to make a run in 2026.
