The Texas Rangers have had a bit of a rollercoaster of a season and unfortunately, the ride is in another valley. Heading into the Silver Boot series, Bruce Bochy’s club was red hot and had gotten back into the thick of the AL West race.
However, some slipups led to the Rangers only splitting a series it could have swept and after an off day, the team ran into a buzzsaw that is the New York Yankees. On Tuesday night, the team lost 5-2 and saw several of the same struggles that has plagued it all season.
That means that the offense struggled despite ample chances to drive in runs, and the bullpen struggled to keep the game within reach. The Texas Rangers have now lost two straight and are only 1 game over .500 on the season.
Bruce Bochy couldnt watch the Texas Rangers meltdown
The frustrations seem to be boiling over and after watching his team blow chance after chance at scoring a run, especially a bases loaded one out situation that saw Joc Pederson and Marcus Semien each strike out to end the inning, Bochy had seen enough.
He was ejected for calling balls and strikes, but after the game, he admitted he was just really angry about the way his offense has played for most of this season.
“It was probably a series of games that led up to it,” Bochy said after the game. “The pitch was a strike. But’s more the tough run we’re on right now not getting some calls. It hurt us in some games. And so it’s more frustration than anything else. But we still need to go out there and swing it better.”

Bochy makes more history
The Rangers’ manager has been around for many, many years and that was never more obvious than on Tuesday night, when his ejection meant that he’d moved into No. 6 on the list of most times a manager has been ejected.
That number is ironic of course because last week, he moved into No. 6 all time among managerial wins, jumping Sparky Anderson. This record is a bit more funny than historical, but it does show just how long he’s been around.
Former Ranger farmhand helps out from afar
Despite the loss, Texas didn’t lose any ground on the first place Seattle Mariners. That’s because the M’s lost 1-0 to the Chicago Whitesox. While that’s certainly embarrassing, it was also interesting that the Rangers had a hand in the loss, in a way.
Chicago started Adrian Houser, who was recently released by the Texas Rangers after spending the start of the season with Round Rock. He was cut loose last week, and picked up by the Pale Hose. And now he’s helping his former franchise stay in the AL West race.
