With the Mariners and Astros separating themselves in the AL West race, the Texas Rangers find themselves in need of a series where they make a statement. This Rangers squad was assembled with the goal of winning a World Series and at some point, they are going to have to start playing like it and there is no time like present. Unfortunately, the weather seems to have it's own ideas.
Tuesday's matchup against Tampa has the makings of a really great pitching duel between one of the surprises of the 2025 in Tyler Mahle against Drew Rasmussen and his 2.33 ERA through 11 starts. Unfortunately, we are going to have to wait to see that matchup continue as we are officially in a rain delay after play was halted in the third inning.
*Update: 8:37 PM*
Almost as soon as the rain came and the tarp went on the field, the weather passed and it was taken off. Not exactly the lengthy rain delay some may have thought looking at the radar.
Rangers vs. Rays Rain Delay - 6/3: Here is when the game is supposed to start
So there is a real chance that this game just gets postponed, but they are going to try to get this game in if they can. This is a Rays home game after all and there is basically zero guarantee that a rescheduled date would be any better as Florida's weather is notoriously unpredictable. The chances of rain do go down as the evening goes on AND the next game is also a night game, so waiting this one out may be the most likely outcome here. In short, strap in, get some snacks, and catch up on any reading you need to because we could be waiting for a while.
We will keep this post updated with any details that get released as to when the game could start as well as any other weather updates that come through. Ideally, we will just have to wait for a bit before getting this game going. However, that plan relies on the Tampa weather gods cooperating for a change.
