Postseason heroes are compared to folk heroes or talked about in same vein as mythical monster. In the case of Vlad Jr., pitchers would probably rather stare down a dragon with nothing to fight back with than see him step into the batter's box this October.
The Blue Jays are doing what many baseball outlets said would be impossible to do. Mainly picked to finish third in their own division, they have exceeded all expectations. Vlad Jr. and his postseason heroics is the main reason why.
With his dad, Vladimir Guerrero Sr. being a staple of the 2010 World Series runner-up Rangers, Rangers' fans have found the Blue Jays an easy team to root for. While he may have his dad as his forever comparison, his performance in this postseason is more similar to two other Rangers outfielders.
Vlad Jr.'s postseason is incredibly familiar to Rangers fans
The Rangers have had their share of October legends.Adolis Garcia is the one who is remembered most fondly but Nelson Cruz in 2011 has been forgotten over time. Both of these players were unstoppable just as Vlad Jr. is this year.
Cruz in 2011 slashed .226/.314/.645 for a .956 OPS while putting up eight home runs and 16 RBI's. His bat would tie for second most home runs in a single postseason with Garcia while also being the main bat that got the Rangers as far as they did.
Garcia racked up 20 hits and a slash line of .323/.382/.726 with a 1.108 OPS. His eight home runs and 22 RBI's would propel the Rangers to the title in 2023 while also setting the MLB record for RBIs in a single postseason and tied for second most home runs in one postseason.
This postseason, Vlad Jr. has surpassed both of these performances with a .412/.506/.824 slash line and a 1.330 OPS. His eight home runs prior to Game 7 ties him with Cruz, Garcia and four others for second most.

Every single game typically will have a stat that he either ties or surpasses with names like Adolis Garcia, Nelson Cruz, Corey Seager or Randy Arozarena. He is entering mythical status for what he is doing for an on fire Toronto Blue Jays offense.
Greatness is respected and there is nothing Vlad Jr. is doing right now that is not defined by greatness. We are currently looking at what is likely the greatest postseason performance ever.
With how many games that are played in the current format, there is room for a dip in performance. He already has more at bats than Garcia and Cruz did in their postseasons at 68 and still has a game to play.
Vlad Jr. putting Toronto on his back, hoping to seal it with a ring in Game 7
He has made the most out of every opportunity given to him. Their squad is not where it is today without him. This performance is also occuring while Bo Bichette missed every game up until the World Series. He more than stepped up in his absence making his addition to the World Series roster more of a luxury than a necessity.
The Blue Jays are very similar to what the 2023 Rangers were. The team from out of nowhere lead by notable postseason stars while getting career high numbers everywhere else. It has been a positive site to see while the biggest villains in MLB are on the other side.
Rangers fans will sit back in awe of Vlad Jr.'s performance during Game 7 on Saturday as he looks to add on to his legendary performance while being the hero that Adolis Garcia was in 2023. We will have to wait and see if his October performance bleeds into November success.
