Who are the youngest and oldest Rangers to win the Silver Slugger Award?

Dating back to the early 90s, the Rangers have been known as an offense-first team loaded with guys who could hit the ball a mile. In the 90s, you had lineups that were stacked with sluggers like Juan Gonzalez, Rafael Palmeiro, Ivan Rodriguez, Dean Palmer, Ruben Sierra, and more. They were perennial All-Stars and also prime candidates to take home the prestigious Louisville Silver Slugger Award at the end of every season.

Though the power has fallen off a little bit ever since the team moved into the pitcher-friendly Globe Life Field in 2020, there are plenty of Rangers who have taken home the hardware over the years. There are two Rangers who are the youngest to win the Louisville Silver Slugger Award

Juan Gonzalez - 22 years-old

Also known as "Juan Gone", Juan Gonzalez was the youngest player in franchise history to earn a Silver Slugger Award. In 1992, "Igor" was just 22-years-old when he was selected as the right-field recipient of the trophy. It was the first of five Silver Sluggers Gonzalez would win.

Known for his rangy plate coverage and immense power, the 6-foot, 3-inch, 205-pound Gonzalez hit 43 jacks and drove in 109 runs while playing at the old Arlington Stadium. Gonzalez hit for power to all fields and announced his presence in '92. He also leads the Texas Rangers organization with 372 career homers.

Ivan Rodriguez - 22 years-old

Arguably the finest defensive backstop in MLB history, Pudge also carried a thunderous stick. At the tender age of 22, he won the Silver Slugger with a remarkable 1994 campaign that included a slash of .298/.360/.488. He mashed 16 homers in just 99 games that year.

Of course, he went on to have seasons with many more dingers, like his 1999 MVP season when he launched 35 bombs, but his all-around offensive prowess at such a young age was more than enough to earn him a Silver Slugger.

Adrian Beltre - 35 years-old

Adrian Beltre didn't get to Arlington until 2011, but he made quite an impression with his old-school, gritty style and Gold Glove-caliber play at third base. Of course, Beltre was also an incredible hitter and is one of two Rangers to win the Silver Slugger in the golden years of his Hall of Fame career. He hit 199 long balls in just 9 seasons with the team - good for 5th all-time.

For Beltre, his Silver Slugger at 35 years old came in 2014 as he hit for a .324 batting average and an OPS+ of 144 - the second-best number of his remarkably long and consistent career. Beltre was such a hit with the Rangers' fanbase in the 00's, that they erected a statue outside Globe Life Field in honor of the third sacker in 2025.

Vladimir Guerrero - 35-years-old

Though he played just one season for Texas in 2010, Vladimir Guerrero made it count, racking up his 8th Silver Slugger in his penultimate MLB season. Guerrero had a strike zone that stretched from the top of his batting helmet to two feet in front of home plate and was a thrill to watch on his way to a Hall of Fame career.

In his age 35 Silver Slugger year, the Dominican Republic native hit .300, swatted 29 home runs, and knocked in 109 runs while managing a 119 OPS+. We would have loved to have seen more of Vlad, but he was on the tail end of his career when he got to the Ballpark in Arlington.
