Big Day for the Texas Rangers

Yu Darvish was back to his normal self on Friday vs the Toronto Blue Jays, and Colby Lewis was not terrible in the Texas Rangers loss yesterday. Today, what the Texas Rangers really need to get the second half of the season started off right is a great start from Nick Tepesch and a series win from the team. It has been far too long since Texas Rangers fans have tasted the feeling of a series victory (you’ll have to go back to the last week in June vs the Twins).

With Alex Rios being day to day with his left ankle sprain, Daniel Robertson will need to provide some offense, which he did yesterday, and Jake Smolinski, who has noticeably cooled off, needs to get back to tagging the ball all over the field. And Tepesch?

"“Everybody is going to put pressure on themselves, because we want to do what we can to win the game and help everybody in this clubhouse get better,” Tepesch said according to the Texas Rangers website. “Anytime you’re out on the field, you want to win, no matter the situation. There is always pride.”"

The Texas Rangers are playing for more than pride though, they are playing to see who will still be around for next season, and I think that Nick Tepesch is one of the guys that really wants to be in the conversation for the rotation next season. A big win today would really help him.

We know what we are going to get from Adrian Beltre, now we need the rest of the team to follow his lead and have a big day off of Mark Buehrle, who has not won since June 1st. I really hope to see the bats get going early today and I hope to see the first Texas Rangers series win since last month! Let’s see the Texas Rangers start off the second half of the season right!
