The Milwaukee Brewers have signed free agent left-handed reliever Neal Cotts to a one-year contract worth $3 million. The Rangers acquired the Brewers starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo last week.

Earlier this week the Texas Rangers traded left-handed pitcher Robbie Ross to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for their right-handed pitching prospect Anthony Ranaudo. Then, on Friday news came that the Red Sox signed former Rangers righty Alexi Ogando to a one-year contract. The deal is worth $1.5 million guaranteed, with incentives, according to reports. The incentives could push the deal to $3 million, according to a USA Today report.

Things are rougher in The Outback, as Texas Rangers prospect Kellin Deglan was injured during a brawl that broke out during an Australian Baseball League game earlier this month. Details are just now coming out about the incident, that required surgery for Deglan.

Texas Rangers new manager Jeff Banister has been spreading the good word of baseball, more importantly, Rangers baseball. Apparently he is making quite an impression on folks and vice-versa.

ESPN’s Keith Law released his top 100 prospects in baseball yesterday, with the Texas Rangers having six on the entire list. It was topped off with Joey Gallo. Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News also ranked the Rangers Top 5 prospects, it is interesting to see how Law’s stacked up against Grant’s.
