Texas Rangers: Quick Hits From Surprise

facebooktwitterreddit

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The Texas Rangers finally played some ball yesterday, albeit it was just a scrimmage game. Nonetheless, it was baseball. There were a few takeaways from yesterday’s game. Let’s get the not-so-fun-stuff out of the way first.

INJURY UPDATE:

Derek Holland was scratched from Sunday’s intra-squad game due to left shoulder soreness. But he and Rangers general manager Jon Daniels both emphasized that this is a “normal” feeling and comes with Spring Training. Holland also wanted to stress to the fans that we really shouldn’t freak out.

Thankfully, Holland is feeling better already.

However, Elvis Andrus was removed from Sunday’s game with left knee soreness. He has seen Dr. Meister and there is no cause for alarm here either.

Hopefully, this is just another “normal” Spring Training issue.

Now, on to something I mentioned we would have after the intra-squad game. The scorecard. Yes, I have missed Texas Rangers baseball so much I’m that excited over a scrimmage scorecard.

Hey! YU! What’s that sound?

Oh, it’s just Rougned Odor being struck out by Yu Darvish.

Today’s intra-squad game was cancelled due to weather.

The Texas Rangers will be the home team when they play the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday. If you want to catch the game it will be on 105.3 FM The Fan at 2:05 p.m. (CST).

Here are the starting pitchers, including the projected rotation for Wednesday’s opener – at the time of this post at least.
