Rangers Smoked By Padres In Tuesday Loss

On Tuesday, the Rangers suffered their biggest loss of the Cactus League season falling 17-5 to the San Diego Padres.

In a game that saw possible Rangers trade target Derek Norris dominate at the plate, Texas looked outmatched against the San Diego Padres.

Colby Lewis got the start for the Texas Rangers going 4.2 innings giving up 9 runs on 11 hits and striking out 1. These elevated numbers don’t speak well to his expectations for 2016 because of the type of playing conditions Arizona maintains. Nick Tepesch also pitched for the Rangers out of the bullpen and struggled giving up 6 runs in 1.2 innings of work.

Shin Soo Choo hit leadoff for the Texas Rangers Tuesday and went 2-4 with a run scored on the day. Rougned Odor also kept his hot steak alive going 1-3 against the Padres with an RBI and a run scored. Hanser Alberto led the Rangers scoring attack driving in 3 runs on a 3 run homerun in the seventh inning.

Injury Report

Yu Darvish who’s working to come back from Tommy John surgery threw a 30 pitch bullpen session on Tuesday. Delino DeShields left the game early for the Texas Rangers dealing with mild right biceps soreness and will be reevaluated today. Ryan Cordell is still out with a sprained right ankle. First baseman Ike Davis has begun baseball activities but is still a little ways away from returning to baseball activities.

The Rangers are slated to play a doubleheader against the Cubs Wednesday with a big league game taking place first, and a Futures game taking place afterwards.
