It is no secret the Texas Rangers have been incredibly disappointing this year. Every team has to be represented by at least one player at the game but there may somehow be multiple Rangers.

The offense has been bad, but the pitching has featured some of the best seasons in team history. Multiple potential Cy Young candidates can make the rotation spots.

It won't be similar to 2023 when the roster featured 6 Rangers but it won't be just one player either. There absolutely should be multiple representatives of the Rangers on the roster.

2 Rangers' players who deserve All-Star Game votes

Jacob deGrom

Currently pacing for another Cy Young placement season, deGrom has been sensational and being on pace for his most innings since 2019 has been the key.

deGrom would be an All-Star every season if he could stay healthy long enough to see the All-Star break. The only current American League pitchers with better seasons going currently are Tarik Skubal, Garrett Crochet and Max Fried.

There are replacements every year even if deGrom doesn't initially make it. There are a lot of high level contenders to pitch in the game but he is certainly one that should be on the team regardless.

Pitchers haven't caught the viewers imagination quite like deGrom has in his career. Rewarding him for fighting through four years of health adversity is well in order while celebrating the pitcher he has become today.

Tyler Mahle

By far and away the biggest surprise on the team this year needs a trip to the big game. After recovering from Tommy John, his progress in his career has been incredible.

Fully being back and better than ever has rejuvenated the rotation in Arlington this year. His success has lead to Texas having arguably the best rotation in Major League Baseball.

His 77 innings have not resulted in eye popping strikeouts but have resulted in a 2.34 ERA while allowing his defense to work. The All-Star game needs feel good stories and Mahle has been one of the best all year.

This year isn't just a feel good story though. He has certainly earned his way onto the team and should be rewarded by earning the pick to the game.

3 players who could get votes but will just miss the All-Star Game

Josh Smith

Only one hitter has been consistent and productive for the whole season so far in Arlington. Being the best utility man in baseball also makes a great case to be an All-Star.

Playing in 60 games has resulted in a .279/.343/.418 slash line while producing 16 extra-base hits and eight stolen bases while also being a consistently good fielder across the diamond.

Smith is buried in the ballot being listed as an outfielder which is absolutely loaded. Being buried like that leaves him with basically no chance at the game. This should be a sign to the MLB to include utility on the ballot.

Smith's path is likely being a replacement for the team. It is a shame that he is fighting with the likes of Aaron Judge, Byron Buxton, Steven Kwan among others. Rangers fans should be filling their ballots with Smith and get him to the game.

Nathan Eovaldi

Eovaldi was on pace to potentially contend with Tarik Skubal for Cy Young until his unfortunate injury. He may still make the team based on stats currently but the missed starts will likely make him miss the game.

If he makes starts prior to the game he should absolutely be on the team. Hopefully a return before the break happens and leads to him rightfully being in Atlanta representing the Rangers.

Hoby Milner

If you want to talk about the most surprising players in the MLB so far, Milner is certainly on the list. In 32.2 innings to this point, he has only allowed 9 runs in 30 appearances while striking out 28 to 7 walks.

His season has been a standout and is deserving of a trip to Atlanta, but non closer relievers fight an uphill battle to make the All-Star roster. We've seen Rangers relievers be snubbed before and Milner will probably join the list.
