Entering this season, the hype surrounding this Texas Rangers team was swelling around the league. After what has been the most tumultuous start to a season in team history, the future is starting to seem clear again.
Multiple players have played their way off the team while others are enjoying career defining seasons. It has been strange to see who has struggled so mightily that had such lofty expectations.
The ceiling for the Rangers has been raised in 2025 and these guys are looking to push it even higher after their scorching hot returns to the big league team.
2 Texas Rangers who have rebounded after bad starts
Kumar Rocker
Rangers fans much like myself were putting narratives on Rocker that in hindsight were unrealistic. Pushing for a rookie of the Year trophy wasn't very fair to Rocker. He also performed so poorly he had to make outings in the minor leagues this year.
After his return to the big league club, Rocker has been on fire. His game log dating back to June 4th only has one blip vs the Angels and has included 5 of 7 seven starts going 5+ innings and allowing 2 or less runs.
He has looked more like the Rocker we saw coming out of Vanderbilt with a passion for the game that is unmatched. He even made the top dog Detroit Lions look like a little league team at times in his most recent outing.
His rebound after such a horrid start that was historic for all the wrong reasons is impressive. Instead of calls to remove him from the rotation, he is bringing eyes to watch him on the mound. He will be key in the playoff push this year.
Josh Jung
There isn't much more to say about how horrible Jung was for a large stretch of the season. At the beginning, it was still even productive. A stay in AAA seems to have lit a fire under Jung again.
He has acknowledged that he no longer takes his at bats at the big league level for granted. His interviews have shown a player happy to appear in Arlington again rather than somebody just clocking in for work.
His renewed joy has shown in the Rangers record. The Rangers are 5-0 since his return with his 5 hits and 2 walks being key in big innings for the team. His outs are loud and his at bats are more stingy.
The results are not outwardly impressive so far but the impact is felt. His great glove is back to preventing runs as well. The results will come in time with more at bats.
There was a legitimate chance Jung had played his last game in Texas before the All Star break. It is refreshing to see Jung back at the hot corner. He can fill one more hole as the team looks to add at the deadline.
