Now batting for the Texas Rangers…the 2nd baseman…#3…Russeeell Wil-SON!  *insert Chuck Morgan voice*

Okay, that’s not going to happen.  But, we can at least dress up like it’s going to happen.

The Texas Rangers will begin selling Russell Wilson baseball jerseys on Sunday; and apparently, not just in the Rangers colors.  The fan gift shops at the Ballpark in Arlington…er…Globe Life Park in Arlington, will be selling Wilson’s #3 in the home white and the royal blue…AND…wait for it…”Seahawk Green”.  Apparently all you have to do to get your own personal jersey color is win a Super Bowl.  Who knew?

Are you a fan of the Ranger Red?  Me too!  Unfortunately, we’ll have to drive to Arizona to get one.  They will only be sold (as of now anyway) at Surprise Stadium; also beginning Sunday.

This fashion update comes just in time for Wilson’s workout with the team on Monday. He is expected to participate in morning workouts that day, but won’t play in the game. BOOOO!  Obviously, this is the smart choice for Wilson.  And the Seahawks.  But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to watch him hit.

And why does this guy get a sneak peak?

Oh…nevermind…

What do you guys think of Rangers Wilson jerseys?  Is it odd to have the jersey of a just-drafted-player on sale in the gift shop? Absolutely.  Is it a good idea for Rangers marketing?  Absolutely.  How many baseball draftees win a Super Bowl the same year of their first spring training workout?  Not many.  Or any.  And for what it’s worth, I’m glad it’s Wilson.  Not just because of the success he’s had, but because of his professionalism and general good guy persona.  Why not have some Metroplex kids wearing his name?

Too bad he wasn’t #36 instead of #3.  Then you could get some use out of that old CJ jersey tshirt you have laying around somewhere.

So what do you guys think?  Will you buy one of these?  I think I’m going to pass.  At least for now.  I have a Fielder #84 to get first.

Happy weekend everybody!
