The Battle For Last Continues

The Texas Rangers go into Houston to fight the fourth place Houston Astros, and try and see if they can leapfrog them and get out of last place in the West. The Silver Boot is also still up for grabs. The Rangers have played better since the All-Star break, although their record of 7-12 since the break doesn’t really show it. The Rangers have won two of the last three series and they have been in every game except the 9-3 loss to the A’s and the 12-2 loss to the Indians.
This team has looked better in every facet of the game, pitching, fielding and hitting. J.P. Arencibia has been unstoppable knocking Rangers in and Robinson Chirinos is making a real name for himself this season. The Rangers go into Houston tonight on a 2 game winning streak, and that can be the start of something special if they can go into H-town and get the sweep.

I am not saying that they are going to do that, but I am saying that I am starting to believe that they can do things like that again. It would take a lot of things to go wrong with the Mariners for the Rangers to have a shot to finish about fourth place, but if they can finish strong and have everyone left stay healthy for the remainder of the 2014 season I will be a happy camper.
The Astros swept the Rangers last time they were in Arlington, let’s see if the Rangers can return the favor this weekend in Houston. Miles Mikolas, Yu Darvish and Nick Martinez will try to get the job done, Elvis Andrus will try to extend his hitting streak and the Rangers will try to extend their winning streak. All in all, it should be a fun weekend for Texas baseball!
