I know I’m stating the obvious here but for the Texas Rangers to have a good season, the key is our health. We all know there will be injuries but let’s hope the so-called Nolan curse has been lifted from our beloved Rangers! The Rangers were basically fielding a Triple-A team last year. The Rangers used an MLB record 64 different players. It seemed that every day there was a new name in the lineup. I know you’re saying that every team can say health is the key but this is especially true for the Rangers.
Pitchers Derek Holland, Matt Harrison, and Martin Perez, first baseman Prince Fielder, second baseman Jurickson Profar, and outfielder Shin-Soo Choo were just some of the players that wound up on the disabled list. These are all key player’s that we are counting on for this year. Let me say again… health is the key for 2015. Holland came back last season to put up solid numbers. He pitched 37 innings and had an ERA of 1.46. Sure I can’t expect that kind of ERA for a whole season but I would expect 3.70 or so ERA from him.

Martin Perez is due back around the All-Star break. Although after Tommy John surgery I’m not counting on him immediately. Matt Harrison has started tossing according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News.
Jurickson Profar has started a throwing program with reports being good so far.
Having a healthy Fielder and Choo will definitely help our line up. Shin-Soo Choo was signed to his mega deal to get on base, which I expect to see a lot of. If healthy, Fielder should have no problem hitting 30 home runs for the year. That’s right, I’m saying Prince is good for 30 home runs!
With everyone getting healthy we will finally be able to see the team that Jon Daniels intended to be out in the field last year along with a few new faces! I have no doubts that the 2015 Texas Rangers will be better than the 2014 Texas Rangers just by being healthy alone. They have to be! I’m not making any bold predictions except that they should be very competitive! Good thing that we don’t have to wait long to see!
