Adrian Beltre projections for 2015

Adrian Beltre is one of my favorite players on the Texas Rangers! He is the definition of a professional, he plays through pain and is definitely a clubhouse leader. I just can’t help but root for him. Beltre is entering his 18th season in which he will turn 36. I’m not really worried about his age as much as I am about his hamstrings. As spring training inches closer I thought I’d take a look at his projections. Per steamer at fangraphs.com Beltre is projected at 24 home runs, 94 RBI, .297 AVG , .354 OBP just to name a few.

Before I go over what my projections for Beltre will be, let’s take a look at some of his stats for the 4 years that he has played for the Rangers.

As you can see…offensively these are great numbers. Beltre doesn’t seem to age. Some of these stats have actually improved, like base on balls (BB) and on base percentage (OBP).

Here are some of my projections for Beltre for 2015.

HR: 25

Last year Beltre’s power numbers went down to 19 (I’m starting to wonder if the improvements that the Rangers made to Globe Life Park have affected the jet stream). However I don’t see him hitting less than 25 home runs this year.

RBI: 105

I’m going to say that Beltre has 105 RBI this year. He will definitely have more opportunities to drive in runs with Shin-Soo Choo at 100 percent and a bounce back year from Elvis Andrus.

AVG: .317
I’m sticking with what Adrian has been doing the last few years with the Rangers and that has been hitting over .300

OBP: .392

Over these last 4 years Beltre has been able to increase his on base percentage a bit each year partly by being more selective at the plate and taking more base on balls. I see no reason to believe why he can’t increase it slightly more this year.

Regardless of whether my projections are off or right on the money, one thing is certain…Beltre will give the Rangers everything he has. I will enjoy watching this season as I have every season! I hope all Rangers fans enjoy watching him as we only have 1 more season after this one. What are your projections for Adrian Beltre this season?
