Adrian Beltre – Face of the Rangers Through 2016
SURPRISE, Ariz. – News coming out of camp today that the Texas Rangers have picked up Adrian Beltre‘s 2016 option.
Adrian Beltre signed a 6-year deal with the Texas Rangers in 2011, with 2016 being the vesting year. However, in the original contract the Rangers would be able to void the $16MM option if Beltre

Beltre is widely regarded as the best defensive third baseman in MLB and has won two consecutive (2011-2012) Gold Gloves with the Rangers, a career total of four.

In his four short seasons with the Texas Rangers Adrian Beltre a slash line of .315/.364/.530 while averaging 29 home runs and 94 RBI per season. He ranks third in Major League history with 2,341 games played at third base.
Beltre’s contributions to the game of baseball and to the Texas Rangers are, in my opinion, unmeasurable. His knowledge, skills, and guidance of young players will reach beyond the next two years for Texas players, and that is priceless.
I am so happy that Jon Daniels realized the importance of signing Beltre now instead of having the question of his contract consume the regular season. His leadership cannot be matched. Neither can his infectious positive attitude and skills at third base. Hands-down the best move by Jon Daniels this offseason. What do you think, good move by JD?
