Designated hitter Prince Fielder was sent back to Dallas-Fort Worth to meet with doctors in hopes of finding the cause of his persistent sleep problems.

The team was first made aware of the issue when Fielder approached them about his problems getting a full night of sleep. Texas decided to have Prince Fielder return home to undergo a sleep study and then return to the team this weekend. After hearing about the issue, Assistant GM Thad Levine said the team decided it was best to have him evaluated based on the time it was in the season.
Fielder is anticipated as being a big factor once again when Opening Day of 2016 rolls around. As one of the biggest power threats in the Texas lineup, he’ll play a key role in driving in runs for the Rangers as they chase another AL West divisional title and a playoff push. Last season, Prince hit .305 for Texas blasting 23 homeruns and driving in 98 of the Rangers runs last year.
So far this Spring Training Prince Fielder has been struggling a bit at the plate going 1-9 with 2 strikeouts. The hope is that getting this sleeping issue remedied will help right the ship as we move forward.
Other than Fielder, the only injury issues for Texas right now come from young second baseman, Rougned Odor, who has been dealing with mild tightness in his right oblique. The issue developed Tuesday during batting practice however the team expects the issue to not be too serious. Ranger closer Shawn Tolleson has been dealing with lower back spasms and has been throwing off flat ground as he works to recover. If his next session goes well, he’ll likely return to throwing off of a mound.
