With only 13 days remaining until Opening Day, the Texas Rangers have started a slide that most recently saw them lose to the Colorado Rockies.

The Texas Rangers have strayed away from their winning ways in Spring Training dropping another game yesterday to the Colorado Rockies, 9-6 in Surprise.

More from Texas Rangers News

Martin Perez got the start for the Rangers and took the loss moving to 1-1 on the Spring. He threw 4.1 innings giving up 4 runs, only 3 earned, on 7 hits and struck out 4 Rockies hitters. Perez is solidly in the starting rotation for the Rangers and despite taking the loss, this wasn’t a bad outing for the young lefty.

Jeremy Guthrie got the bulk of the work out of the bullpen throwing 3 innings for Texas. Guthrie gave up 5 runs only 3 of which were earned on 5 hits. Guthrie, who is battling for a role in the Texas rotation, needed a slightly better outing out of the ‘pen, but errors were the main cause of the Rangers loss Monday afternoon. The Rangers committed 3 errors against the Rockies which means over the past two games, they’ve committed 8 errors. Where this defensive struggle is coming from nobody is sure, however things will need to change as Opening Day approaches.

At the plate, Rougned Odor put together an impressive day 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI. Odor is sure to play a key role for the Texas Rangers in 2016 and having him hitting well headed into April could be a big difference maker in the Rangers season. Ryan Rua also continues to hit well this spring as he went 3-4 against the Rockies and hit his fifth double of Spring Training.
