Rangers Escape With Win Over Arizona On Sunday

The Texas Rangers took on an Arizona Diamondbacks split squad on Sunday and came away with a 5-4 win on the afternoon.

Veteran pitcher, Colby Lewis, made the start for the Texas Rangers on Sunday going up against Cactus League opponent, the Arizona Diamondbacks. Lewis had an impressive outing going longer than any other Rangers starter this spring. Lewis threw 6.2 innings, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits and striking out an Spring Training high, 6 hitters.

In relief, Matt Bush made his second Cactus League appearance of the year for Texas. Bush threw 1 innings giving up a leadoff double, but then retiring the side with the help of a strikeout to get out of the inning. On the radar gun, Bush consistently hit 97-99 MPH with a 100 MPH fastball mixed in as well. Keone Kela picked up his first save of Spring Training when he threw the 9th inning, getting a pair of strikeouts in the inning.

The Texas Rangers tallied 12 hits at the plate on Sunday with a 3 run Prince Fielder homerun putting them ahead in the 5th inning. Fielder went 3-4 on Sunday with those 3 RBIs. Robinson Chirinos also had a big day at the plate going 3-3 with 3 singles an RBI and a run scored.

Rougned Odor cooled off a little bit Sunday going 1-4 against the D-Backs. Ian Desmond got the start in center field and got a lot of work with the high, Arizona sky. He showed the ability to range to his left and right only losing one ball in the sun on the day.

Injury Report

Delino DeShields who was dealing with a right biceps strain was in the lineup Saturday as the designated hitter and is set to return to center field on Monday.
