Final. 4. 11. 8. 126

A big sixth inning for the Texas Rangers propelled them back over .500 with a win over the Baltimore Orioles.

On The Mound

Colby Lewis had another effective start in his third outing of the year for the Rangers. Lewis took the no decision in the start but did what he does best by putting the Texas Rangers in a place to win the game. Colby went 6 innings allowing four earned runs on ten hits and struck out seven. Three of the four runs Lewis allowed came off of solo homeruns hit by Manny Machado, Adam Jones, and Chris Davis.

The bullpen came in in the seventh and held Baltimore scoreless for the final three innings of the game. In the one, two, three punch that was claimed to be so deadly coming into this season, the Texas Rangers effectively shutdown Baltimore bats at the end. Keone Kela came in and pitched the seventh inning allowing no hits, one walk and grabbing a pair of strikeouts all while picking up the win for Texas. Sam Dyson was the “set-up” man for the Rangers throwing the eighth and striking out a pair himself. Finally, Shawn Tolleson pitched the ninth in a non-save situation and got the Orioles in order to finish off the Rangers win.

At The Plate

The Rangers had an impressive offensive day on Saturday tallying fourteen hits in the contest. Four Rangers tallied multi-hit games with both Delino DeShields and Nomar Mazara putting up three-hit performances.

Texas scored six in the sixth inning to take a commanding 8-4 lead that would hold for the rest of the game. Mitch Moreland hit a go ahead double off the right field fence and then Rougned Odor hit a two-run single to extend the lead.
