Martin Perez and the Texas Rangers picked up a series win Wednesday night against the New York Yankees.

On The Mound

As the Texas Rangers looked to pick up the rubber match against the New York Yankees, they sent lefty Martin Perez to the mound in search of his first win of the season. Perez pitched extremely well throwing 6 innings giving up just two runs on six hits. He tallied three strikeouts, striking out the first three hitters he faced in the game.

Jake Diekman threw the seventh and eighth innings not allowing a baserunner and tallying one strikeout. Diekman has yet to allow an earned run this season and opponents are hitting just .071 against him. Shawn Tolleson picked up his seventh save of this season throwing the ninth inning allowing just one hit in his inning of work.

At The Plate

The Rangers needed just five hits to score their three runs and pick up their twelfth win of the season. Nomar Mazara went hitless in the game Wednesday but still reached base, walking in his first at-bat of the game. Adrian Beltre went 1-4 with an RBI on the day. Hanser Alberto also drove in a run on a 1-3-2-5 double play that scored Ryan Rua from third.

Elvis Andrus had the biggest hit of the night when he hit the go-ahead triple in the sixth inning with two outs that turn into the game-winning RBI.
