Rangers Pick Up Close Win Over Los Angeles

The Texas Rangers picked up a close win against the Los Angeles Angels Friday night behind the arm of Colby Lewis.
On The Mound
The Texas Rangers sent Colby Lewis to the mound Friday night as they searched for a third straight win heading into a series against the Los Angeles Angels. Lewis, seeking his 2nd win of the season, pitched excellently against the Los Angeles Angels, going 7 innings giving up just nine hits and two earned runs. Lewis’ start, was the 23rd straight game where a Texas Rangers starting pitcher has gone at least five innings.
Out of the bullpen, Sam Dyson threw the eighth inning for the Rangers and picked up his seventh hold on 2016 with the appearance. He gave up just one hit and struck out one. Closer Shawn Tolleson got his eighth save of the year throwing a hitless ninth where he struck out two hitters.
At The Plate
Texas trailed 2-0 going into the fifth inning until Ryan Rua hit a solo homerun to left field on a 2-0 count. Then in the bottom of the sixth, trailing just 2-1, the Rangers struck for three runs coming off of RBI hits by Prince Fielder, Ian Desmond and Mitch Moreland.

Rougned Odor was back in the leadoff spot of the Rangers with Delino DeShields getting the day off. Odor went 1-3 with a run scored and reached base a second time on a walk. Ian Desmond and Mitch Moreland both put together multi-hit performances for Texas both recording two hits. Both players also drove in runs in the go-ahead sixth inning.
