Homeruns Propel Texas Rangers To Win Over Detroit

The Texas Rangers got a power boost Saturday afternoon, propelling them to a win over the Detroit Tigers.

The Texas Rangers took on the Detroit Tigers Saturday in game two of a three-game series and picked up a come from behind win to take a 2-0 series lead.

On The Mound

AJ Griffin started the game for the Texas Rangers Saturday night, and went 2.2 innings allowing three earned runs on four hits and three walks. He was pulled  in the third inning with shoulder stiffness after struggling to locate his pitches against Detroit. In relief the Rangers sent five pitchers to the mound.

Anthony Ranaudo picked up the win pitching second for Texas going 2.1 innings allowing two earned runs in his body of work. Tom Wilhelmsen and Jake Diekman each pitched one shutout inning combining for just two baserunners allowed. Tony Barnette threw 1.2 innings without allowing a run giving up four hits in the nine batters he faced. Shawn Tolleson also got his tenth save of the season throwing a scoreless ninth.

At The Plate

The Rangers had a big day at the plate Saturday recording ten total hits on the day. The top of the lineup played well with Odor, Mazara and Beltre all recording two hits in the game. Mitch Moreland also recorded a multi-hit game for Texas.

Five homeruns were the difference makers for the Rangers with Moreland, Odor, and Mazara hitting a bomb and Beltre hitting two. Beltre hit two, two-run homeruns totaling four RBIs on the day. Moreland also recorded a two run homerun of the Texas Rangers.
