Texas Rangers Get Sweep Of Detroit
By Kenneth Nash

8. 126. Final. 3. 63
The Texas Rangers picked up a sweep of the Detroit Tigers on Sunday with a big comeback in their 8-3 win.
The Rangers entered Comerica Park on Sunday looking for a sweep of the Detroit Tigers before heading home to take on the Chicago White Sox.
On The Mound
Young lefty Martin Perez got the nod Sunday to start against the Tigers in the third game of a three-game series. Perez, who has struggled early on this season, pitched well in the game despite taking the no decision. Perez went 6 innings in Comerica giving up just two earned runs, walking five and striking out seven.
In relief, Tom Wilhelmsen picked up the win throwing the seventh inning without giving up a hit or earned run. Sam Dyson and Alex Claudio also threw an inning apiece with Dyson shutting out the Tigers in the eighth and Claudio giving up just one run in the ninth.
At The Plate
Texas struggled offensively early on against Detroit starter, Justin Verlander, before jumping on the bullpen late in the game. The Rangers scored seven runs in the eighth inning, five of those charged to Mark Lowe, to take the final game of the series.
The Texas Rangers scoring was started after a series of station to station plays where Texas scored two. Then Bobby Wilson hit a grand slam with two outs to give Texas the lead. Delino DeShields followed up the Wilson homer with a solo shot of his own to cap off the Rangers scoring.
