Texas Rangers may be looking to acquire an all-star before the trade deadline and is adding an all-star ever a bad thing?

The Texas Rangers seem to be involved in talks with the Milwaukee Brewers about acquiring all-star catcher Jonathan Lucroy. The catcher position for the Texas Rangers is currently filled by 2 players in Robinson Chirinos and Bobby Wilson. Chirinos and Wilson have had times during this season when they have provided sparks when needed but adding an all-star is never a bad move.

It sounds like power hitter Joey Gallo would be involved in the trade. Gallo looks like he could be the Texas Rangers future 1st or 3rd baseman and would likely lead them in HRs if he improved his strikeout rate. Gallo has a natural talent to hit a baseball very far if he makes contact. He grew up playing little league with Bryce Harper and Kris Bryant who are young superstars in the league.

Gallo has potential be a great player in the MLB and he may live up to that one day but for right now has just recently been called up by the Texas Rangers and is playing every now and then. The potential trade to the Brewers would put him on a team trying to rebuild and could be what he needs to become a great everyday player.

Adding Lucroy to the Texas Rangers lineup would provide an everyday player at that spot but matching up a new catcher with pitchers this late in the season could lead to some chemistry issues.

I think that the Texas Rangers may not even make another trade. This belief is not just because they just swept the reigning World Series Champs but because the lineup of young and older players seems to work for the Rangers and as long as they get quality starts then they are going to be in every game the rest of the season.

If no trade happens before the deadline tomorrow then I absolutely expect them to make an offseason trade that involves either Jurickson Profar or Joey Gallo. As of right now they have a little momentum behind them and it may just be the best time to ride that as long as possible.

What do you think? Who are you okay with trading away and do you think that the catcher position needs to be addressed?
