Texas Rangers 2017 Positional Breakdown: Right Field

Jairo Beras
Ranked as the Rangers 11th-best prospect by MLB Pipeline, 22-year-old Jario Beras is a name to keep an eye on heading into 2017.
He has a cannon for an arm. That mixed with his below-average skills defensively slots him perfectly into right field, where he spent most of 2016.

Beras may be the first of the talented outfield prospects to make his Major League debut. To go along with his rocket arm, Beras has shown impressive power potential.
In 107 games at High-A High Desert a season ago, Beras hit 22 home runs, posted a .249 ISO rating, and slugged at a .511 clip. Beras is 6’6 and 195 pounds, it’s possible he gains more power as he continues to grow into his frame.
While he’ll hit for power, don’t expect Beras to hit for average. He struck out 27.4 percent of the time in 2016 and hit for a .262 average.
One of Beras’ biggest weaknesses is his inability to get on base. Only walking drawing 24-walks in 441-at-bats and posting a OBP of .306, Beras will need to work on his plate discipline to make it to Arlington any time soon.
