Texas Rangers catcher Jonathan Lucroy played a major role in Team USA’s come back victory against Venezuela. Lucroy helped Team USA come back from 2-0 deficit and win the game 4-2.

This was Lucroy’s first appearance on Team USA in this year’s World Baseball Classic. He filled in for San Francisco’s Buster Posey who appeared in the previous games. Going 2-for-3 with one RBI, Lucroy really made a heck of an impression.

Team USA trailed Venezuela 2-0 in the seventh inning, when Lucroy hit a sacrifice to right, allowing Kansas City’s Eric Hosmer to score and put the U.S. on the board. In the eight inning, Baltimore’s Adam Jones and Hosmer would both blast homers to give the U.S. the 4-2, which the U.S. held onto to win.

Sam Dyson also made an appearance in this game. Though this wasn’t his first, as he appeared in the previous games, pitching very well. In last night’s game, Dyson pitched 1.1 innings, allowing no hits, surrendering no runs, and striking out zero batters. Dyson’s time so far has been great. In any case, he needs to keep it up.

Rougned Odor and Robinson Chirinos who are both representing Venezuela appeared in this game, too. Though their performance in this game didn’t turn to be so well as they both went a combined 2-for-6. Odor struck out twice, but he did blast a homer for his country. That’s a life-long accomplishment he’ll never forget. No doubt, the Texas Rangers are proud to have players in their organization playing internationally and representing their countries.

Tomorrow, Team USA has a game against Puerto Rico. They’ll look to keep the momentum alive as well as their winning streak. If they can keep winning, they’ll advance to the next round.
