Apparently, the Texas Rangers have a desire of making another big free agent signing. It seems that their interest in free agent outfielder Lorenzo Cain has intensified. The Rangers are making a point. Their point is proving to the world they’re more than 100 percent committed to improving the team.
ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick reported via Twitter, the Texas Rangers’ interest in the services of Cain has increased significantly. The Rangers need all the talent they can get to become a winning team again.

So what good would it do bringing in Cain into Arlington? Quite frankly, for one thing, his’s leadership expertise is certainly useful. His veteran leadership expertise combined with the leadership expertise of Adrian Beltre, Shin-Soo Choo, Elvis Andrus, etc would be ideal.
Cain’s presence would make a strong impact on young players such as Rougned Odor, Nomar Mazara, Keone Kela, Alex Claudio, Joey Gallo, etc. Nomar Mazara and Delino DeShields could learn a lot from Cain. Furthermore, we can only imagine how much of an impact Cain’s knowledge and expertise could have on Willie Calhoun’s career.
So truth be told, bringing Cain to Arlington would definitely be a good move. Of course, he’s going to ask for a price. But that’s no surprise.
If Calhoun was to sign with the Rangers, the Rangers would have his usual position of an outfielder as his primary position for the season. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if Cain divided his playing time playing in the outfield and serving as designated hitter.
There are no reports of discussion between Cain and the Rangers, but if their interest in his services is truly at a high level, we can expect discussions to start very soon.
