Lineup

  1. 2B Ian Kinsler
  2. SS Michael Young
  3. C Pudge Rodriguez
  4. 1B Rafael Palmeiro
  5. CF Josh Hamilton
  6. RF Juan Gonzalez
  7. 3B Adrian Beltre
  8. DH Ruben Sierra
  9. LF Rusty Greer

Is there enough power in the lineup?

When a player with over 3,000 career hits and 400 career home runs is batting 7th, you know there’s been a few sluggers come through town over the years. Perhaps Beltre should bat higher in the lineup; however, he did spread his success throughout Boston, Seattle and Los Angeles.

Pudge Rodriguez and Michael Young are two of the three biggest names in franchise history (also, Nolan Ryan). Both have been inducted into the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame. Certainly, there would be no justice if Young was not hitting in his traditional second place spot and Pudge his traditional third place spot in the all-time lineup.

The same goes for Ian Kinsler. Kinsler is the most memorable leadoff man and most durable leadoff man in franchise history. He was known for his leadoff home runs down the left field line and he was very much a fan favorite during his time in Texas.

Palmeiro, Hamilton and Gonzalez make for an intimidating 4-6 in the lineup. The trio combined for 1,203 home runs and three MVP awards. When accounting for the most magical seasons in franchise history, these three are responsible for quite a few of them.

Rusty Greer was known for his phenomenal glove in left field, though, he certainly played a major role on offense as well. He contributed productive season after productive season throughout the 1990s. Greer, Gonzalez and Rodriguez were at the forefront of the team’s success in the late ’90s.

And let’s not forget how good Ruben Sierra was in his time with the Rangers. He’s 6th in franchise history with 180 home runs and he stepped to the plate over 4,500 times as a Ranger.
