Will the Texas Rangers buy, sell, or stay put at the Winter Meetings?
By Travis Koch

Will the Texas Rangers be sellers?
It’s not out of the question for the Rangers to deal either Nomar Mazara or Joey Gallo this offseason. Those are the only two players on the major league roster that would warrant a significant prospect haul.
How I see it?
Why trade 23-year-old or a 25-year-old? Isn’t the whole point of a rebuild to start fresh with a collection of young talent?

The only reasoning behind such hypothetical trades is the fact that Texas’ top two prospects are outfielders. So, the impact of the two prospects could potentially replace the impact of the two big leaguers. Still, it’s always risky to put too much stock in guys that haven’t yet surfaced at the MLB level.
I mentioned Profar and Minor as possible trade bait. The Texas Rangers may try for the 100th time to trade Shin-Soo Choo; however, that attempt will fail for the 100th time. The only other notable player I could see Texas putting up for sale is Willie Calhoun. He simply doesn’t fit anywhere.
Players like Jose Leclerc and Elvis Andrus will be held onto, but perhaps brought up in trade conversations come the 2019 trade deadline.
