Hunter Wood

Reliever Hunter Wood should be turning some heads in Texas Rangers camp.

It’s somewhat of a coincidence that all three of the players on this “underrated” list are non-roster invitees to Texas Rangers’ spring training.

When you think about it, though, it’s players with that designation that have the most at stake.

That’s why NRI righty Hunter Wood has entered the Rangers’ bullpen fray in spring training with authority.

Signed as a minor-league free agent in January, Wood and his flow (which rivals that of teammate Charlie Culberson) have been productive in limited pitching appearances this spring.

The 27-year-old right-hander has 3.00 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and five strikeouts in three innings pitched for the Texas Rangers this spring.

Most recently, Wood closed out a tight 7-6 win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday in Scottsdale, which was sure to make a good impression on the Rangers’ coaching staff.

Texas has a crowded bullpen field in 2021, but the team has been entrusting Wood with high-leverage situations this spring, a sign that that the 28-year-old should be on your radar heading into the regular season.
